The guest house was built in the sixties, however, the neighborhood is much
older. At one time, there was a dairy farm on the lower level of the
neighborhood. The upper section was owned by the Methodist Church, which
founded the Methodist Encampment Conference Center. Later, the church began to
sell property, primarily to ministers, who built summer or retirement homes for
themselves and their families. These quaint rock homes can still be seen on
Lazy Lane, Panorama and Vesper Drive. Gradually, much of the land was purchased
and more homes were built.
The narrow hilly streets, with overhanging trees to provide shade, make this
place ideal for walking and biking. You are sure to enjoy this charming,
eclectic neighborhood.
